I’m really frustrated by the news today. Seems that NYC will now recognize lesbian parents on birth certificates, which is really exciting, but SO FRUSTRATING because lesbians still can’t get married here. On a more positive note, Mayor Bloomberg is finally speaking out in favor of passing a gay marriage bill. What’s the hold up NY? Get with the program.

Today is the one year anniversary of our engagement… or as I like to call it, my ring’s birthday.

What’s funny is that I didn’t even remember that we were engaged on St. Patrick’s Day… and I hate St. Patrick’s Day.

I’m shocked that its totally acceptable for “Bridesmaid” and “Save the Date” to be abbrevited as BM and STD on the wedding websites and message boards I’ve been reading. How did this become a widely accepted practice?

My obsession du jour is the Offbeat Bride Tribe, a social networking site for unique brides such as myself. You have to fill out a form to be accepted which is great for filtering out vendors and other pests.

These girls are bad-ass. They are wildly creative and really inspiring.

Irene and I have decided to forego the traditional wedding party. Instead, I will have a Best Man (my brother Ben) and Irene will have a Maid of Honor (her sister Ingrid.)

Big bridal parties seem like a hassle for me and Irene, and a burden on the “chosen ones.” I don’t want to dress my girlfriends all alike and make them follow me around like little robots. Actually, that does sound like fun. But not at our wedding…
