I *really* want to attend the big National Equality March in Washington, DC next month, but I’m not sure its going to work out. We can’t afford a hotel, not that we could even find a room at this point. I think our only chance is to find a group in NYC that is going for the day and providing some kind of reasonably priced transportation. Any leads are much appreciated, please don’t let my awesome signs go to waste!

I don’t know what your budget is, but you could try Amtrak (if you have a little more to spend and want to get there faster) or something like MegaBus. I think there is another company that is like MegaBus, but I honestly couldn’t tell you the name of it. They have seats starting at $1 each way, and the price goes up from there. You might be able to get something for like $10 each way since it’s less than a month out.

As for hotels, have you tried looking slightly outside of the city? As a general rule, I’d try to stick to the VA side… you might be able to find something reasonable though.

I’ll be in DC the day of the march, but I have a conference for work so I won’t be able to go – not excited about that!

Thanks for the tips! I did some research this afternoon and the LGBT Center and Marriage Equality NY are coordinating buses for people so we’ll probably use one of those.

I’m also going to look into train fares (to avoid traffic) but I’m expecting that to be pricey.
